La Folie
The Stranglers
The Madness
Good evening
Your ride doesn’t seem to have any passengers
Can you, will you take me in
Without too much hassle?
My boots won’t echo too loudly in your hallway
No noise with my goodbyes
Not for us the wasted moments
Waiting for an uncertain goodbye
Because I have the madness, yeah it’s madness
Once upon a time there was a student
Who wanted it bad, like in literature
His girlfriend, she was so sweet
That he could almost, while handling her
Reject all the vices
Push away all the evils
Destroy all the beauties
That otherwise, had never been his accomplices
Because he had the madness, yeah, it’s madness
And if sometimes we make confessions
To whom to tell them - even God has let us down
Another place, another life
Oh yeah, it’s another story
But who to tell everything to?
In the shadows of the night?
At dawn, at the break of day
How many crimes have been committed
Against lies and so-called laws of the heart
How many are there because of madness
Because they have the madness
