Winter Children
He was the father, she was just a kid
When the mother slept,
He came to cuddle every night
Don’t tell us,
He whispered softly to her
Mom will cry if you tell her
So be a good girl, don’t question
What we’re up to
If they ask you, you’ll stay silent
Like a grave
And every evening she looks up
Sends a prayer up to him
Oh, good God can you hear me?
I really don’t want to disturb you long
I wish for two white wings
Then I’ll fly far away from here
Winter children
Are already used to the cold
Their blood runs way too hot
Winter children
Stay for hours in the snow
And dream of warmer days
No one saw anything, the world was blind
Because the good can sometimes be bad
And what can’t be, just isn’t
And so she stayed alone
Hardly was it summer, she was gone
In a letter soaked in tears
She said goodbye to all those
Who didn’t know what was happening
And every evening she looks up
Sends a prayer up to him
Oh, good God can you hear me?
I really don’t want to disturb you long
I wish for two white wings,
Then I’ll fly far away from here
Winter children
Are already used to the cold
Their blood runs way too hot
Winter children
Stay for hours in the snow
And dream of warmer days
Winter children
Are already used to the cold
Their blood runs way too hot
Winter children
Are used to the cold, used to it
Winter children
Are used to the cold, used to it
