Palavra de Honra
Tião Carreiro e Pardinho
Word of Honor
Every man has his price
Every saint has his day
The old world has changed
From when the grandparents lived
When a man's word
Was worth more than money
To seal a deal
There were no documents
He would pull a hair from his beard
And give it as a guarantee
He didn't use documents
Like in modern times
To deal with a man
He used to think more
But if he gave his word
He wouldn't go back on it for anything
He honored what he said
Even with fatal risks
Today, a word of honor
To keep or not, it doesn't matter
Today everything has changed
This is no secret to anyone
The morals of certain men
Are being used as toys
When they speak, they backtrack
Changing the truth out of fear
They are simple heaps of ice
Passing as rocks
To find many of them
You don't need to go out early
As time goes by
Tradition is lost
Sons of upright men
Lose their name in the notary
The good reputation they inherited
Is lost in the scams they pull
The honor of the household doesn't matter
They want to be more than they are
To walk in high places
They leave morality on the ground
