Old Cowboy

I got up early one day, sat on the bed crying
Remembering my old days as a nervous cowboy
Felt a pain in my chest like burning embers
Heard a voice outside that seemed to be calling me
I had a premonition, that death in the voice of the wind
Was lurking around me

I went out to the yard, remembered past glories
Saw myself riding a colt running in the fields
Also saw a handkerchief waving from someone who was my beloved
Who bid farewell long ago to her final resting place
I had a dreadful disappointment, seeing that everything was a dream
And today I am nothing

Poor is the one who in this life never thought of old age
Seeing me old and sick, a son supported me
I receive so many indirect comments from the daughter-in-law who didn't like me
And my innocent grandson crying already told me
Mom threw a fit, says this isn't a nursing home
But I like you

In this tired face of mine burnt by the scorching sun
Two tears ran, mirrors of my failure
It's the prize for those in life who didn't want to get it right
I opened my eyes too late when I was already a wreck
Look at the situation here, of the former king of the cowboys
Today can't even handle the lasso

I prayed to God asking for forgiveness from my fellow cowboys
For all the faults of this old wandering cowboy
When I leave this world, my final request
Is to be buried in the shade of a rosewood tree
To hear from time to time, the cattle passing by
And the shouts of the cowboys
