A Mão do Tempo
Tião Carreiro e Pardinho
The Hand of Time
In the solitude of my chest my heart complains
For loving someone who is far away and living with someone I don't love
I know that you also complain of the same fate
Wanting to live with me but destiny doesn't allow
How good it would be if we could remove from our thoughts
And bury the longing in the night of forgetfulness
But the shadow of memory is like our own shadow
Along the paths of life, it is always present
Go memory and don't make me desire an impossible love
If remembering makes us suffer, forgetting is preferable
What's the use of loving someone who has already gone
It's like loving a star that flees at dawn
Pull distant hours lived from our minds
Long roads that we once traveled
Erase with the hand of time the traces we left
Like flowers that withered on the ground of our past
