Minha Vida
Tião Carreiro e Pardinho
My Life
I bring in my memory
When I was a child
Lived in the countryside
Liked the jokes
Of the water mill
Of the wooden house
When the sun rose
I would go to the winter pasture
To the dairy cows
To milk them in the pen
I was a mischievous boy
Full of energy
Liked the guitar
And still went to school
I went every day
On a dappled mare
It was my destiny
Since I was a boy
To go to the dances
I was like a nightjar
Sometimes in the saddle
My brother with the reins
Made a bridle out of bark
To go to the country dances
I stayed on one side
With my eyes wide open
Watching the dancing, but couldn't join
Drank some mulled wine
Already felt tipsy
Sang some songs with someone
I also sang
At fifteen years old
I moved to the city
Left school
Was a young lad
Stopped studying
Worked as a bar boy
Thirty thousand reais per month
To serve the customers
Selling cachaça
Dealing with trouble
For me, only my boss was good
Was annoyed with my salary
Worked for seven months
Only got paid once
I didn't see money
Started working as a bricklayer
To learn the trade
But it was torture
Scorching sun
Roofing the houses
The chairs hurt
And I regretted
But there was no way
Had to face it
I endured the hardship
Didn't get used to it
I'm a bit short
My physique is weak
Just talking about work
I almost faint
I had a great impulse
With another resource
The guitar is so easy
Just play with the strings
Make good songs
When people get tired
Make double songs
And selected ones
For the parties to come
Not to feel hot
Avoid drinking
To not lose my voice
Money in my pocket
Comes with little effort
In this blue sky of mine
Entertaining Brazil
