A Estrada
Tim
The Road
It's been a while
Oh so long
So long I can't even count
That I managed to leave home
And started to play
I caught the 9 o'clock boat
On the left bank of the Tejo
On one side was hunger
On the other side burned desire
I went up Lisbon by tram
And it was night and raining
The month would be December
But I don't remember the day
There was one in galoshes
With his father's raincoat
Had pins in his mouth
And came from Olivais
The other one I already knew
He was the one who challenged me
He was a bold singer
He was the one who guided me
And the third one arrived late
Came straight from the barracks
His Vespa was broken down
No paper for the taxi
And with the band formed
But no songs to play
In binary or quaternary
They started to invent
And the band never stopped playing
And the road never stopped calling them
And so they went on
Playing here and there
Until one fine day
João and Gui joined
Finally complete
They reached the top spot
But they never imagined
What they still had to play
And that's how the legend goes
Sung here for you
By me, who is Tim from Xutos & Pontapés
And the band never stopped playing
And the road never stopped calling them
