Soneto de Separação
Tom Jobim
Separation Sonnet
Suddenly from laughter came tears
Silent and white like mist
And from united mouths came foam
And from splayed hands came astonishment
Suddenly from calm came the wind
That undid the last flame from the eyes
And from passion came premonition
And from the motionless moment came the drama
Suddenly, no more than suddenly
What was made lover turned sad
And what was content turned lonely
The close friend turned distant
Life became a wandering adventure
Suddenly, no more than suddenly
