Véio Pai
Tonico e Tinoco
Old Father
My father is already old
He can't work anymore
Playing with his grandson
He spends time reminiscing
When he picks up the guitar
To disguise the sadness
He sings old songs and then starts to cry
He tells his life story
From when he was single
Of the feats he accomplished
In his cowboy days
He was always respected
Throughout all of Brazil
And always fulfilled the law and duty of a Brazilian
When you meet an old man
Respect his age
He is a shadow of the past
A mirror of longing
Respect him like your father
With affection and friendship
He only gives good advice for the youth's well-being
Every old man was once young
Every young man was once a child
Old age is the end of life
Where hope dies
But those who always did good
Achieve glory in heaven
Their name remains in history, and the past in memory
