I have my black horse named Ventania
A twelve-braça lasso made of a heifer's leather
I have a brindle dog, for my company
I'm a carefree countryman, as I have no family

On the back of my horse, I travel all day
I go from one state to another and have no fixed destination
Whoever wants to be my boss, offer me more money
I am well known throughout this entire Brazil

I have a gaucho cape that I traded for a draft ox
I have two large sheepskins, pure wool
One serves as my mattress and the other as a pillow
With my gaucho cape, I cover my whole body

Goodbye, as I'm already leaving, I'll stay in another city
The day after tomorrow, early, I want to be in Piedade
God gave me this destiny and much happiness
