Il Sognatore
Toto Cutugno
The Dreamer
I became a dreamer to feel less alone
And to not know how many years I have
I became a dreamer selling dreams for a living
I even sing songs that I don't know
Just closing my eyes is enough to photograph the world
And to see in negative how deep the sea is
And this wrinkle on my face is the tattoo of a love
I am a dreamer
I got lost among the stars, many cheap loves
I hit rock bottom of freedom
Some say I'm crazy and lucky
Because those who dream of disappointments don't have any
Maybe you were the first lonely hypothesis of life
Maybe I keep saying maybe to not say it's over
And I reluctantly respect your rules of the game
I am a dreamer
And I go away leaving a poem on your lips
What will be of this life, what does it matter
I became a dreamer and whoever read my cards
Discovered that I don't have a destiny
And like dreamers do, I manage to step aside
While the world keeps telling me no
In a thousand years there will be those who will talk about dreamers
Like animals from the past who fed on emotions
In a thousand years or in two hours, but let me say it
I remain a dreamer
And I go away leaving a poem on your lips
What will be of this life, what does it matter
And I go away where the sky descends to the bottom of the sea
What does it matter if in the world I remain just a dreamer
