La Golondrina

Where will
swift and weary
the swallow
that is leaving here
in case in the wind
it gets lost
seeking shelter
and not finding it.

Next to my bed
I will put its nest
where it can
pass the season
I too am
lost in the region
Oh Holy Heaven!
and unable to fly.

I also left
my beloved homeland
that mansion
that saw me born
my life is now
wandering and distressed
and I can no longer
return to my home.

Beloved bird
beloved pilgrim
I will bring my heart
closer to yours
I am remembering
tender swallow
I will remember
my homeland and cry.
