Wedding of the Skull Rose
It's Monday, I'm heading
to the wedding of the Skull Rose,
It's set for midnight sharp
in a wooden chapel.
I called for your Omolu, to come pray for the ceremony.
The chapel's all decked out, with a flowered floor for her to walk in.
The catacomb opened up and even the ground shook
with the seven chimes that the bell rang.
Here comes the announcement, she's on her way,
The invited court, the lady of the night with her flair.
I thought they wouldn't show, that's what I said.
I got slapped in the face
'cause I saw the queen with the king of Exu.
Who’s coming in, look who’s here,
In her golden-scaled dress,
it was the beach girl with her marabou.
I was even startled when I looked around the corner,
Exu Maré was coming in,
well accompanied by his girl.
The party got lively and time kept rolling.
Maria Mulambo and Exu do Lodo, were just
another couple arriving.
Exu Morcego drank it all and the invite never made it to my place,
We came anyway, I'm
the milonguera and this is Exu Brasa.
And in that moment, chaos broke out,
Skull Rose was left hanging, 'cause her groom disappeared.
The bride's brothers, João Caveira and Caveirinha,
rushed after the groom who was running off with "Maria."
The scoundrel jumped into the hood, leaping rooftops, walls, and windows.
Like smoke, he vanished into thin air, leaving another bride at the altar.
They say around here that he's José, wearing a little white suit, what a rascal he is.
