Lieber Gott
Umbra Et Imago
Dear God
What I see, I soak it in
And give you the reflection.
I see the path of the world clearly,
Want to be good but must be bad.
I want to drink in joy.
I inhale your love.
The world lets me sink into darkness.
I will always be lonely.
I want a person
Who loves me upright.
I see a dead body,
Bleeding on the street.
Dear God,
Make me tough for this world
And kill the mind that torments me.
Dear God,
Why do you let me see this misery
And why won’t you let my pain go away?
A cold feeling of your hand,
A smile that no longer warms me.
Though I’ve endured it a thousand times,
I’ve learned nothing from it.
In a hundredfold birth,
I’ve experienced the suffering,
Created by a humanity
That stands on the edge of the abyss.
I still believe in the world,
That endlessly spins its rounds.
In a love that stays with me,
No matter what happens.
Dear God,
Make me tough for this world
And kill the mind that torments me.
Dear God,
Why do you let me see this misery
And why won’t you let my pain go away?
