Prayer of Charity
Our God, you who are all power and goodness.
Give strength to those who are going through trials.
Give light to those who seek the truth.
Place in the heart of man compassion and charity.
God,
Give the traveler the guiding star,
The afflicted the consolation,
The sick the rest.
Father,
Give the guilty repentance,
The spirit the truth,
The child the guide,
The orphan the father.
Lord,
May your kindness extend to all that you have created.
Mercy, Lord, for those who do not know you,
Hope for those who suffer.
May your kindness allow the comforting spirits
To spread peace, hope, and faith everywhere.
God,
A ray, a spark of your love can set the earth on fire.
Let us drink from the sources of this fruitful and infinite kindness
And all tears will dry, all pains will calm.
One prayer, one thought will rise to you,
Like a cry of recognition and love.
Like Moses on the mountain,
We await you with open arms,
Oh kindness!
Oh beauty!
Oh perfection!
And we somehow want to reach your mercy.
God,
Give us the strength to help progress so we can ascend to you.
Give us pure charity.
Give us faith and reason.
Give us simplicity, which will make our souls...
