kids under 16, the streets are their apartments
coming from those shady neighborhoods, problem areas
where drama reporters can’t turn off the camera
those neighborhoods where everyone prays, but never sees a sign
only under the pyramid do you see the class divide
neighborhoods where charity is done and opportunities are denied
neighborhoods where women spend their lives in maternity
kids dealing all the drugs but only smoke the good stuff
love school, there’s a ton of clientele
stealing cars, houses, stores with everyone watching them
illicit why?! the streets are theirs
better watch out, avoid any confrontation
and better know that these kids don’t flinch with guns in hand
when they show up in your area, no one leaves the house at night
only the sirens make the kids leave the block
but they know that respect on the streets isn’t just for the tough
it’s also about showing up at the station to build your rep
this is the law of the streets and backing down is a sin
it’s hard to trust anyone, having friends is a privilege
the people call them delinquents, outcasts, reckless
they know they have no future, but they have the present
and they keep living in the moment, with a mind, sick or sane

there they can eat, sleep, and improve escape techniques
