Gevallen In de Nacht
Vanaheim
Fallen In The Night
Under a gloomy sunset
A reclusive people live alone and lost
An ancient storm approaches
That will disturb the deceptive peace of souls
Their wooden hovels creak in the wind
Which bangs terrifyingly against the fence
Eerie sounds from an earlier time
Proclaim the start of a bloody battle
Rugged, drifting snow conceals
Grotesque footprints sunk deep into the ground
They have been immortalized by the twisted forms
Of which many songs resounded in the woods
Seasoned men are ready
To fight against a fearless force of giants
Side by side they await the gods
Who will pass their annual judgment on midwinter night
From a deep hibernation, mossy and overgrown
The giants arise and seize power
Hungry for human blood they destroy the villages
Where one offers resistance
Fallen in the night
Those who can fight are awaited on the battlefield
All are needed when harm threatens us
And those who can care, watch over the people
That will return or barely living to beg for death
At the edge of the forest the giant brood is already prepared
After which a bloodcurdling silence tormented the warriors
But the bold ones stand their ground
Because they know that their village will soon be overwhelmed
Those who imagine they are most powerful
Must endure these acts of God
The host of the enemy given them insight
That the strongest army can not defeat nature
And then an ancient cry
Loudly answered by a thumping midwinter horn
The giants roar through the village
Guided by mother earth's wrath
Fallen in the night
Fallen by thy sins
Fight tonight (go to battle against the giant’s spawn)
Show thy strength (show them where thou grew up)
Till dawn (the Sun will rise)
Defeated the dark (and the day returned)
Fight tonight (go to battle against the giant’s spawn)
With all thy might (show them where thou grew up)
Every man (will return to his kin)
Make it stronger (reunite thy family, or meet thine ancestors)
The rumors concealed
What the man spoke of
Until a cry from the dark
Broke the silence
From a deep winter sleep, mossy and overgrown
The giants rise and seize power
Hungry for human blood they destroy the villages
Where there is resistance
Fallen in the night
Begging the forgiveness of thy false God
We are bound to bow to an unavoidable commandment
Driven mad, greed brought thy downfall
Sing our icy judgment in thine hymn of praise
Let it sound until death seized thee
With the force of a thousand storms
The village collapsed under a giant's grievance
Roofs are lifted
Mingled with earth to mere rubble and blood
Where doth she hide?
Where doth she weep?
Joined by will and soul
She woke to a new beginning
From a deep winter sleep, mossy and overgrown
The giants rise and seize power
Hungry for human blood they destroy the villages
Where there is resistance
Fallen in the night
