Come to Supper
Christ has already prepared for us
A feast that He bought for us,
And now invites us to supper:
With heavenly manna
That God gives you for free,
Come, hungry, to satisfy your soul.
''Come to supper'', the Master calls - ''come to supper''.
Even today you can be satisfied;
He multiplied a few loaves,
Turned water into wine,
Come, hungry, to Jesus, ''Come to supper''.
Here are the disciples returning,
Without catching any fish,
But Jesus sends them out again;
Upon returning to the shore, then,
They see fish and bread on the fire,
And Jesus, who invites them to come to the meal.
Whoever is thirsty,
Come to Christ without delay,
For He gives wine without mixture;
And also the bread of life,
Which brings us comfort;
Behold, everything is already prepared.
Soon Christ will descend,
And receive the Bride
To her place beside the Lord Jesus;
Who endured hunger
And has already quenched thirst,
There in heaven will sup in holy light.
