O Rei e o Plebeu
Vanilda Bordieri
The King and the Commoner
Your presence attracts me, my King
Your anointing makes me desire you
Your holiness makes me want
To be holy just to please your being
Your strong arm makes me rest
Your firm gaze reassures me
Your majesty makes me admire you
For being a King, you accepted the commoner
I who was seated at the palace gate
Had my feet wounded, delivered to the bonds
As distant from Your glory as the Moon is from the Sun
I who was seated by the roadside
For my end, nothing was missing
What a surprise when the King became friends with the commoner
He took me with him to the royal palace
Gave me new clothes, a unique ring
To sit at my table is what I heard
I ate from the banquet the King himself made for me
And the more time I spend with my King
The more fascinated I become, I know
I know that nobles are with nobles
But this noble King loved me from the heart
I have no explanation
Just eternal gratitude
For the King became friends with the commoner
