On the road to Golgotha, I see my beloved
Jesus walking, suffering along the way
Heavy cross on His shoulders, groaning as He goes
With no one by His side to help Him stay

I see with the eyes of faith His steps in the sand
I see the place of the skull waiting there
I see Him nailed to the cross with a tender gaze
Praying and saying to the Father, it is done

God, His Father, up in heaven, watching in shock
