El Tapatio
Vicente Fernández
The Tapatio
They call me Tapatio, because I grew up in Jalisco
Between meadows and rivers, in the heights and in the cliffs
From a blacksmith and a tequila maker, I have become a charro
Because I tame even calves and drink from the mouth of a jug
They call me Tapatio
Because I grew up in Jalisco
Between roses and dew, kissing from beak to beak
They call me Tapatio
The same as mares or mules, I tame them by hand
And I don't need help because I always feel like it
I might as well jump a goat and ride a bull
And whoever wants, I'll tell them and they'll see that I'm not running away from them
They call me Tapatio
Because I grew up in Jalisco
Why don't they feel cold?
If I kiss them with a bite
They call me Tapatio
I bring you my serenades with violins and guitars
So that my flats sigh from behind their windows
Those who do not sigh cry, others bite the excess
But why should they torture themselves if their affectionate is here?
They call me Tapatio
Because I grew up in Jalisco
Like the eagle with vigor, the snakes take to their beaks
They call me Tapatio
