Corrido de Juan Armenta

Ballad of Juan Armenta

I'm going to sing a ballad to those present
That I composed for Juan Armenta there in the plains
He was a gunman and had a reputation for bravery
And with a gunshot, his half-brother killed him

He provoked and hastened that incident
To rid himself of a disappointment in his chest
Juan wanted to make his sister-in-law his love
Because he thought that lady desired him
But she only treated him with decency
Because she loved and respected her husband
And without thinking or measuring the consequences
In a fit of madness, he abducted her

They had already arrived at the abandoned cabin
She wore her dress torn to pieces
A woman born to be honorable
Is not afraid of a knife or bullets
You called her your sister-in-law and she shouted
She would rather die than fall into your arms

Juan was a man accustomed to battles
Of the Armenta family, he was just a bastard son
He planned his death to no longer be a scoundrel
Realizing his action was that of a villain

He emptied the revolver and threw away all the bullets
And waited for his brother to arrive
The offended one arrives at the cabin
Juan pulls out the gun provoking the fight
Then a single shot is heard
And a body falls to reunite with the earth

And here I finish singing this ballad
That I always carry through meadows and mountains
