Se Vende Un Caballo
Vicente Fernández
A Horse for Sale
I put up a sign on my ranch
While I was nailing it down
I felt like crying
It says: A horse for sale
My old nag was nearby
And started to whinny
As if he could read
As if he understood
That I wanted to sell him
Like the old nag knew
What the sign was saying
And was asking why
He's the best in my stable
The horse that fits me best
I cry for my dark horse
His legs and flanks are marked
With white spots
His withers reach my chest
The dad is a quarter horse
The mom's a fine mare
And he looks like both
He knows about saddles and flanks
He jumps over the fences, oh
I remembered a great pain
At the break of day
Today I stole a woman
She was the love of my life
I put all my faith in her
She was what I wanted most
And today, for what I cried the most
She was also a saddle horse
I already took her back
Forgive me, my horse
But I'm going to sell you
Just looking at you reminds me
And I explode in rage again
As I nailed that sign
I was nailing my soul too
But forgive me, dark one
I don't want to see you again
