Tiernamente amigos

Tenderly Friends
Tenderly friends
We were, so to speak, tenderly friends
Two little vagabonds riding on the river
In our small wooden boat
We were giving birth to spring light
At thirteen, a child doesn't lie, darling
And I can assure you I never had a friend like him again
We swore to be faithful friends for life
Between girlfriends and poems, laughter and brothels
Never to separate, freedom or death
Always to defend each other, teenage dream
At seventeen, life is utopia
And I can assure you I never had a friend like him again
We retraced our steps so many times
He lost his faith and sometimes we call each other
Our verbosity is no longer amusing
I keep riding on the same river
He sold his dreams and took shorter paths
But I can assure you I never had a friend like him again
He lost his things and I lost mine too
Something changed the tender perfume of summer
Behind the scenes, I play at being alive
He brushes a dog every Sunday
I don't think he remembers our river anymore
But I can assure you I never had a friend like him again
I still remember his smile and feel that destiny
Is like some bottles where wine sleeps
Some are preserved and others turn to vinegar
And although time kills certain beautiful souls
I always keep what was his and mine
And I can assure you I never had a friend like him again
