El Tren de Madera
Victor Manuel
The Wooden Train
How many dreams it takes to the city
That old train that can't move.
Only three wagons until overflowing,
One for the rich, with two more,
Baskets with chickens and pieces of bread,
Everyone to the fair, the fair of San Juan.
A fat priest travels and a civil guard,
There's a long tunnel that has no end,
A brave girl wants to prosper,
She will look for work in the big city.
