Mujeres

Women
Women who come from a long journey,
women who come from the deepest darkness,
yesterday you were part of the landscape
and no one has gifted you the future.
Women buried in routines,
birthing as the only natural fate.
The old doesn’t seem to leave,
the new is already old and never seems to arrive.
History has run you over
without a voice or vote, you paved the way by walking,
history, you know who wrote it
and never imagined that man and woman were equal.
The Church debated whether you have a soul,
it forbade enjoyment if you didn’t want to procreate.
You could get a passport
if that husband or father wanted to authorize it.
Women who arrive in a new time
for whom the future is equality,
nothing and no one will cut your flight:
history doesn’t walk backward.
Woman, men are a hornet's nest
and many kill just for the thrill of it,
they like to remember they were masters
when you never imagined escaping or protesting.
Woman, from the seed to the fire
you're present in everything you want to be today.
Woman, the freer you are, the more I love you,
defend your sacred freedom against all.
