Pastor Que Tas En El Monte
Victor Manuel
Shepherd Who Is On The Mountain
Shepherd who is on the mountain
and sleeps among the branches
if you marry me, shepherd
you would sleep in a good bed.
I was born in the cabin
and my mother was a shepherdess
I would die in the plain
if I lacked the air.
Shepherd who is on the mountain
barefoot and gathering firewood
if you marry me, shepherd
you would wear good wooden shoes.
I jump and leap through the mountain
barefoot and gathering thorns
better than in those places
with wooden shoes and boots.
Shepherd who is on the mountain
eating rye bread
if you marry me, shepherd
you would eat good wheat.
Eating rye bread
barefoot and sleeping on branches
I have in these heights
the tranquility of the soul.
I will climb the mountain
and become a shepherdess;
I will sleep in the same cabin
and take care of the flock
