Nada Nuevo Bajo El Sol
Victor Manuel
Nothing New Under the Sun
She liked it so much when I soaped her up
if she was scared she always called me
I told her bedtime stories
when I ate her, she let herself go
we learned the alphabet together
and she never let go of my hand
from school to home we went through space
while she spoke with a tongue of cloth
nothing new under the sun
there is no novelty
that children are children
they arrive the same way they leave
that house lacked nothing
before she was born I dreamed of her face
she brought the joy that clear water gives
the one the sun gives every morning
she liked it so much when I kissed her
and now each one she gives back
as if the soul was torn from us
although she kept them for another
nothing new under the sun
there is no novelty
that children are children
they arrive the same way they leave
with the injections she would get dislocated
and she would scream to be anesthetized
just like her mother, an exaggerator
they laugh more than anyone and cry for nothing
nothing new under the sun
there is no novelty
that children are children
they arrive the same way they leave
