Nuestros Nombres
Victor Manuel
Our Names
On the sand, I engraved my name
and a light wind swept it away
the beach remained serene and cold
derneath the black night's shroud
years later, in its memory
my name also disappeared
like the beach, like the night
my heart remained calm.
I engraved her name on the snow
and as the sun rose radiantly
letter by letter, drop by drop
like crying, it dissolved
when her forgetfulness hurt my soul
I wanted to erase my burning love
and yet when I mention her
deep in silence, my heart cries.
