João was the beloved disciple of Jesus
In his heart there was a great need for his love
At the foot of the cross, seeing his master leave, how lonely!
He no longer knew where to go
Jesus said: Woman, there is your son
Son, there is your mother!
If longing still tightens your heart
And the deserted road seems endless
Today I leave you with strength and direction
Look at her and wait for me. Do not fear to receive her as your mother!
She will be your comfort, your motherly embrace, for there is the husband!
