Soneto do Amigo
Vinicius de Moraes
Friend's Sonnet
Finally, after so much past error
So many retaliations, so much danger
Behold, in another the old friend reappears
Never lost, always rediscovered
It's good to sit him next to me again
With eyes that hold the old gaze
Always a little troubled with me
And as always unique with me
A creature like me, simple and human
Knowing how to move and touch
And to disguise with my own deception
The friend: A being that life doesn't explain
That only leaves when seeing another being born
And multiplies the mirror of my soul
