Vieillir
Vivier Jean-Marie
Aging
Aging is keeping your youth as a beautiful memory
It's getting used to living a bit slower
Relearning your body to be able to forbid
What you knew was allowed just yesterday
Telling yourself every time the dawn breaks
That no matter what you do, you're a day older
With each gray hair, letting go of a dream
And whispering a farewell with no return
Aging is resigning to stay on the shore
Hoping for a happy future for your children
It's living in your own world without becoming wild
Letting yourself be ignored while staying close to them
And finally being able to tame love
Creating a symphony with wise chords
Loving a woman, courting her
For reasons other than the aesthetics of her behind
Aging is no longer making love, but showing tenderness
Not saying it anymore, but whispering it always
Feeling a hand in yours that you caress
And trembling at the thought that she will leave you one day
Living in a garden where you can be moved
Taking yourself by the heart and saying 'I love you'
Admitting you cheated, but will you dare to tell her
When you now know you deceived yourself
Aging is suddenly worrying about your soul's salvation
Entering a church without really knowing why
Becoming polygamous with all the patron saints
And shivering while looking at the cross
Ignoring the end of a sketch you wrote
Wanting to perform again in front of your audience
Searching for a line or a witty remark
Knowing well you're not the author
Aging is leaving one day without making waves
In a place, at a time you won't choose
Feeling someone blowing out your flame one evening
Slowly disappearing because that's just how it is
Aging... Aging...
