I was a sad wanderer
looking for a friend
who could give me freedom;
I was a slave for a while
and in Egypt almost dead
without someone to love.
You freed me from Egypt
gave me its riches
all out of mercy;
then you gave my life
a new nature
glory to you, Jehovah
you have given me freedom.
In a confused moment
I was looking for a goal
not knowing if it was bad or good;
stumbling in the cold
with the stones on the road
seeking peace within the war.
