I wanted to be there to talk to those people
About the love that Jesus brought to the needy world
I wanted to be the forgiven thief
Who on the brink of death, was assured of eternal life
I wanted to see live the warm blood
That flowed from the forehead of that innocent man
I wanted to be the forgiven thief
Who on the brink of death, was assured of eternal life
But I discovered, at that very moment I felt
That I was there on that cross
And that Jesus forgave me and gave me salvation
Because I was the thief
