Voluspá (Skaldic Version)
Wardruna
Voluspá (Skaldic Version)
I ask all the holy races of gods
Greater and lesser sons of Heimdallr
Do you want me, Allfather! To tell the ancient tales well
Which are foremost in memory
In ancient times, when Ymir lived
There was no sand, sea, or cool waves
Earth was not found, nor the sky above
The gap was Ginnungagap, and the grass nowhere
The sun turns black, the earth sinks into the sea
The bright stars disappear from the sky
Steam rises with a roaring noise
The high heat plays against the sky itself
Brothers will fight and kill each other
Sisters' children will defile kinship
Yggdrasil trembles, the ancient tree stands
The Jötunn frees itself
Now Garmr howls loudly before Gnipahellir
The bonds will break, and the wolf will run
I know many things, and see further ahead
About the fate of the gods, the mighty ruler
She sees a second time, the earth rise up
Green from the sea, cascades fall
An eagle flies over, hunting fish on the mountain
She sees a hall standing, more beautiful than the sun
Thatched with gold, in Gimlé
There the loyal people will live
And enjoy happiness for all eternity
