O Come, Little Children
O come, little children, come one and all,
come to the manger, in Bethlehem's stall,
and see what on this holy night,
our Father in Heaven brings us delight.
O see in the manger, in the night so still,
see here by the light's bright, shining thrill,
in clean little swaddles, the heavenly Child,
much fairer and sweeter than angels so mild.
There it lies, the baby, on hay and on straw;
Mary and Joseph look on with awe.
The honest shepherds kneel down in prayer,
high above, the angels sing with flair.
O bow like the shepherds, kneel down in praise;
lift up your hands and give thanks like they.
Sing joyfully, children, who wouldn't rejoice?
Join in the angels' jubilant voice.
What can we children give, what can we bring,
you, dearest and best of all children, our King?
You want not the treasures and riches of earth,
your heart only craves humility's worth.
So take our hearts as an offering, we pray;
we give them gladly, in a joyful way;
and make them holy and blessed like yours,
and unite them forever, as one, evermore.
