I Want to Use
Israel in Egypt in a strange land
Forgotten by all, but never by God
Serving as a slave to King Pharaoh
Who oppressed the people without mercy
When the time comes, God rises up
And remembers the promise He made
Chooses Moses to free the people
An unlikely man, but chosen by God
Because to win the war is not our wisdom
Being educated or illiterate is just a detail
For it is God who decides
Moses rises and goes with staff in hand
Faces Pharaoh
And shows that wealth does not overcome anointing
God sends ten plagues, Pharaoh cannot bear
He frees God's people
And Moses could shout victory
He may not know how to read
But he is not afraid
He may not know how to write
But he is a firebrand
He may not speak well
But speaks strange languages
He is poor and has no money
But has power even in his guts
If you don't feel capable
Of doing the mission God ordered you
Before the burning bush you stand
And the one speaking to you now is your Lord
Who sees you will never understand
Why I chose you to do the work
But among powerful men
My choice today is you!
He can't read, but I want to use!
He can't write, but I want to use!
He stutters and lisps, but I want to use!
Rents a house, but I want to use!
Not well-known, but I want to use!
Has no appearance, but I want to use!
In struggle and trial, but I want to use!
I want to use! I want to use!
I want to use to heal, use to save
Use to liberate, use to preach
Use to sing, I want to use to cast out demons!
I want to use to part the sea, to make prosper
To bring down walls, to kill giants
To cool the furnace, I want to use to glorify me!
For it is not by your strength that you are chosen
Nor your knowledge that makes you seen by me
They may not accept you
And call you a commoner
But rise and march to the north
For today among the strong
I am the one who chose you!
But God chose the foolish things of the world
To shame the wise
And God chose the weak things of the world
To shame the strong
I am the one who chose you, I chose you
I am the one who chose you!
