Nuestro Día (Ya Viene Llegando)
Willy Chirino
Our Day (Is Coming Soon)
Just being a child there in the Antilles
My father dressed me as a sailor
I had to sail 90 miles
And start my life as a foreigner
Running away from the sickle and the green olive
Running from that absurd ideology
Because I never wanted to be an appetizer
Of hatred, resentment, and apathy
In my suitcase I brought a hummingbird
A book by Martí, a dream, and a danzón
Beny Moré came as a stowaway
Along with the Matamoros and Cuní
I brought a palm tree and a bohío
And even relocated it to the end of the river
In my humble lodging place
On the twelfth avenue of the South West
Eh, eh
There began the harsh reality, Oh God!
Of everyone who takes the plunge
Of surviving outside their language
Their customs and their identity
What had to happen happened
I took the embrace of my new city
Because resignation is a faithful friend
Of man when he has to emigrate
And despite the distance and the attack
Of the rigid calendar, I live with the luck
Of feeling Cuban until death
Of being a lover of freedom
Today, as my people live excited
I feel inspired and singing a son
Announcing to all my brothers
That our day is coming soon
Oh, oh
It's coming soon
Oh, oh
It's coming soon
Everyone is waiting for it
It's coming soon
Oh, beautiful and charming Cuba
It's coming soon
Because we are a people who sing
It's coming soon
I want to see my flag fly, Cuba awaits us
I'm going to sing my song from the heart
It's coming soon
In the gazebo of the park and the Consolation
It's coming soon
Every day I love you more, my beautiful Cuba, I love you more
It's coming soon
From San Antonio to Maisí, through Maceo and Martí
It's coming soon
