How It Goes On
That young person sits there, resigned and
Staring out the window at the trees
He sold himself to agony
The good times are gone, he's paralyzed by fear,
He's all alone and sick, and no one helps him
And he wants to run, just run. He wants to get away, nothing but away
He feels that this is serious,
He stares at the ceiling in the morning
And all he can think about is
How does this end, how does it go on
All his strength has left him, where are the days when the wind
Blew the fog away in the morning?
He always played the game, he had too easy opponents
He never believed he could ever lose.
That’s over, all over, he’s alone, completely alone.
His own self is now his biggest enemy and he doesn’t like
To admit it, but now he has to, because he can’t
He tries hard to stay calm, doesn’t say much and digs in
He wants to avoid making a scene.
He escapes into self-destruction, too much booze, too much smoke and
Too much coffee, until he can’t breathe anymore.
