A Dor de Um Pai
Yannick Afroman
A Father's Pain
A child is the reason to live
A source of happiness for any mother, you can believe it
A father's wish is to see his child, educated, dedicated, and well-behaved
You even get all mushy when someone comes to tell you
(Your kid, yes ma'am)
But it’s a drag when you hear your kid’s skipping school, only getting bad grades
It’s embarrassing when they say your kid steals, breaks the law, and even kills
It’s really painful for a father to see his child getting lost in drugs or booze
Doesn’t listen, doesn’t care, just takes life as a joke
It’s infuriating when they say your daughter’s good, but dates just anyone
Worried she might get pregnant or catch a disease
It’s not a bullet, but it hits hard to see your daughter come home
With her makeup on because she cheated on her husband
It’s a big sadness when you walk down the street and hear
(This man is Nuno’s dad)
(Which Nuno?)
(That Nuno, the thief)
A father's pain
Is seeing his child on the wrong path
Is having a daughter who doesn’t respect herself
The mother doesn’t understand, asks her husband: Where did we go wrong?
A father's pain
Is seeing his child on the wrong path
Is having a daughter who doesn’t respect herself
The mother doesn’t understand, asks her husband: Where did we go wrong?
A father's pain
The pain of a father
The pain of a father
It’s a heavy burden
A child’s struggle
The pain of a father
The pain of a father
It’s a heavy burden
A child’s struggle
Ah, grandchild
You’re breaking my heart
Dad’s not around
You’re lost in the world
What’s the point?
We’re just trying to get by
Oh, how I wish for a better life
But it’s hard to see you
When you’re lost in the chaos
We’re just trying to be a family
Dad, your child, mom
We’re just trying, trying, trying
A mother gives birth to a child, not a heart
Sometimes it’s not a lack of manners
We gave love, we gave advice
And when we see things, we’re even surprised
Because at home, kids behave differently
Than when they’re out on the street or online
Embarrassing the family, disappointments, and so much more
Is this how you thank your parents?

A father's pain
The pain of a father
The pain of a father
