Beira-Mar
Zé Ramalho
Seashore
I understand the night as an ocean
That bathes the world of sun in shadows
Dawn that fights for a glow
In vibrant colors and sovereign air
An eye that never misses
During the moment I will contemplate
Beyond, far beyond where I want to reach
Night falls and I throw myself into the world
Beyond the limit of the deep valley
That always begins at the seashore
It's at the seashore
Look, within the waters there are paintings and dreams
And things that dream of the world of the living
There are miraculous fish, harmful insects
Open landscapes, dreadful deserts
Tiring leagues, sorrowful paths
That make man disillusioned
There are fish fighting to save themselves
From those who hunt in the rough sea
And others that devour with astonishing genius
The lives that fall at the seashore
It's at the seashore
And until death I feel approaching
I continue singing, kissing the space
Beyond the hair I untangle
I call the waters to come flooding
People and things they drag along
They can already wash my thoughts
Ah! In the fish with wings I want to fly
To leave the ocean of polluted complexion
Sing a gallop closing the wound
That only heals at the seashore
It's at the seashore
